The packets are sent across the Internet, passing from one computer to another until they reach the destination.
At the destination, the packets are reassembled into the full E-mail message.
The E-mail message is stored in the recipients electronic mail box.
The recipiant starts an E-mail program, and tells it to access any new messages in the mail box.
