Our New SHF Freeware Disc

If you are like me, you love FREE software, and a great place to find FREE software is on the Internet. But there's just one problem... go to Google and search for "free software" and you'll get SO many hits that you'll be instantly overwhelmed. But what's even more of a problem is knowing WHAT software you can TRUST, and what software you CAN"T TRUST. That's where we come in...

SHF Freeware Disc

If you have ever attended classes at the SHF Computer Lab, you've probably heard us talk about Freeware. Freeware refers to programs you can download from the Internet and use totally for free. In many of our classes, we relate what we think is the best Freeware and only pass along to you programs we have thoroughly researched or actually use ourselves. In other words, we've found the ones you can TRUST and tell you about them.

Now we have gone a step farther, and are making available to you the official SHF Freeware Disc. This $10 disc contains 19 of our favorite freeware programs, including a short video (by this John Lortz guy) that talks about Freeware and gives you instructions on using the disc. Why are we doing this? Well, certainly, you can download all of the programs we include on the disc, yourself, for free. But we know that some of you might not want to deal with the hassle of downloading, or might have a slower Internet connection. So we are offering the disc as an inexpensive alternative to downloading them yourselves.

If you are interested in a disc, you can grab one at class time, or stop by our offices. We would also be happy to mail you one, for an additional $3.00 shipping charge. For more details, just drop me a note: jlortz@shf.org.
